While still in Schleswig, I tried to find a hotel in Quedlinburg with aircon with out success. Also the hotel prices were very high, so we decided, in the morning, now we got wi-fi, to skip Quedlinburg and go to Eisenach where I booked BoutiqueHotel Villa Anna, because it is stated on TripAdvisor that there is aircon in the rooms – which turned out not to be correct 🙁

Neumünster Designer Outlet

We made a stop in Neumünster at the Mc Arthur Glen Designer Outlet (free wi-fi) and bought some presents and continued to Eisenact. For those of you, who has been in outlets in the US, it is very similar.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area. The woman in the reception was very friendly and helpfull and brought us a fan. The room was great. There was a small terrasse, which we had almost to ourselves. The safe in the rooms, are not in use any more – you have to use the safe at the reception !

We went down to the citycenter and were recommended an Italian restaurant – Michelangelo. Turned out to be  an outdoor restaurant, which were nice. They even had a smoker and no smoker area. Unfortunately, the restaurant we so full, that we had to take a table in the smoking area – 🙁 BUT we were hungry !

The service was not good, everything was a little dirty – guess they were too busy to notice. The Insalata di Pomodori (tomato salad) looked more Greek that Italian and was with feta cheese and DRY leek ( think they were cut some days ago)

Vitello Tonnato

Vitello Tonnato

My wife got a large Vitello Tonnato which were not fantastic, but okay. I got at pizza Caprese, which were very ordinary. The restaurant were inexpensive, we paid eur 42 including water, wine and beers (no Italian brands).

Then we went out for a walk

The castle was founded in 1067 by Ludwig der Springer (Ludwig the Jumper). With him began the unprecedented development of the “Ludovinger” family, who ruled for more than 200 years as the most influential princes in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation.

We took the guided tour in German, otherwise we had to wait for 1,5 hours for an English guided tour.  It is a wonderfull castle and worth visiting, even though all printed text is in German only. So read their webpage, before visiting, if your German is not well enough.

We went down to the citycenter (36 C now) where our lunch was an ice-cream ! Luthers House were under renovation.

Burschenschaftsdenkmal

Burschenschaftsdenkmal (next to the Berghotel) for the members who died in the war 1870/1871. Burschenschaft members were fighting for a united Germany. The Kaiserreich was founded in 1871 !

Our hotel had booked a table outside at the Berghotel Eisenach. It was a little cooler up there and we enjoyed very much sitting outside until a thunderstorm forced us inside. It is a nice place and the food was really good. One should think it was expensive, but we paid Euro 86 for a three course menu with three bottles of water, 4 glasses of wine and coffee. It was worth all the money.
